Important Operational Procedures

• Circulate the shortening for no more than five (5) minutes
  The filter pads are designed to be circulated for a maximum of 5 minutes. Circulating any longer causes the shortening to aerate which in turn leads to smoking and circulating less than 3 minutes does not allow the pads to chemically cleanse the shortening. It is important to circulate the shortening at least once or twice per day, however, it is not necessary to circulate the shortening on every filtration during the day.
• Assemble filter machines with the filter pads the day of filtration
  Since the pads are very absorbent, and their effectiveness is reduced if they are exposed to moisture, DO NOT put them in a wet filter machine or leave them in a pre-assembled filter machine overnight. It is best to store the pads in a clean dry area and assemble them in a clean dry filter machine the day of filtration.
• Do not add any filter powder or slurry mix to the filter pads
  Since the powder is already in the pad, it is not necessary to add any filter powder or slurry mix to the pads or in the vats.
